Below you will find various plants and animals. Choose a plant or animal to research. Write a reply that includes adaptations for this plant or animal. For each adaptation identify it as a behavioral or physical adaptation. Be sure to include what the adaptation is and how it helps the plant or animal to survive and thrive.

  1. The Emperor Penguin is the largest penguin in Antartica. The male and female are similar in weight and hieght, reaching 122cm in hieght and weighing anywhere from 22 to 45kg. When the Emperor Penguin goes hunting for fish, it can go up to 18 minutes underwater and swim to a depth of 535m. The life span is typically 20 years in the wild, but individuals can live up to 50 years of age. The average body tempature is 39 degrees celsius. It's feathers provide 80 to 90 of insulation, and a layer of subdermal fat which may be up to 3cm thick before breeding. These penguins can survive the freezing tempatures, beacause of thier warm body.

  2. The Emperor Penguin is one of four species of penguin that inhabits the Antarctic Peninsula and islands, living on the Antarctic ice.
They eat by chasing after fish, squid, and krill. Then they swallow it. They also regurgitate the food and feeds it to their chicks.
