Hi students! The goal for this blog is for you to become familiar with plant and animal adaptations. An adaptation is a trait that helps an organism survive. Below you will find various plants and animals. Choose a plant or animal to research. Write a reply that includes adaptations for this plant or animal. For each adaptation identify it as a behavioral or physical adaptation. Be sure to include what the adaptation is and how it helps the plant or animal to survive and thrive.
Your post must be a minimum of 1 paragraph (5-8 sentences) detailing the adaptations of the organism you choose.
Your post must be written in complete sentences with correct grammar, spelling and punctuation.
You must also respond to at least 3 classmate’s posts. When responding to a classmate, you may add additional information to their post, compare what they have written to the adaptations of a different organisms, or ask a question about what they posted.
I was surprised to learn that the Bald Eagle is not very picky with what it eats. Its diet mostly consists of fish but the bird will eat almost any thing it can catch. This includes Ducks, wading birds, turtles, and even snakes! Bald Eagles are adapted to forest environments. The forests Bald Eagles live in have to have a source of water like a pond or lake. Also the lake or pond must have living organisms in it such as fish and plans for the smaller fish to eat. Other wise the bald eagles population might lower because of the mane food source not being as abundant. Feet are another thing that helps a organism survive. The Bald Eagles feet have sharp talons to help grasp their food when they swoop in and grab it from the surface of the water. one more fact I would like to share about Bald Eagles is, they have VERY good eye sight to help for night hunting. Thats everything I learned about Bald Eagles have fun researching your animal or plant!
Shea, When you look at the bald eagle's diet, it makes sense that we see eagles here in our Florida habitat. Are the adaptations you listed physical or behavioral? Mrs. Ragland
Shea, did you know that bald eagles are called bald because bald is the old english word for white? Bald eagles habitats are forests, swamps wetlands, lakes, and rivers.
Hi shea. I learned that Bald Eagles have hollow bones to help make their bodies lighter. Even though their bones are hollow they are still very strong. They have three eyelids to protect their eyes. The third eyelid moistens and cleans the eye. The Bald Eagles can see eight to ten times better than the human eye can see. Cool right? (Physical adaptations)
Hannah that fact about Bald Eagles and how they have three eye lids is so amazing and Valeria I think they might be able to survive in he rain forests for a couple day because of the abundance of water.

DeleteWould bald eagles live in cool areas because of thier black feathers? Because darker colors absorb heat more.
