Hi students! The goal for this blog is for you to become familiar with plant and animal adaptations. An adaptation is a trait that helps an organism survive. Below you will find various plants and animals. Choose a plant or animal to research. Write a reply that includes adaptations for this plant or animal. For each adaptation identify it as a behavioral or physical adaptation. Be sure to include what the adaptation is and how it helps the plant or animal to survive and thrive.

Your post must be a minimum of 1 paragraph (5-8 sentences) detailing the adaptations of the organism you choose.

Your post must be written in complete sentences with correct grammar, spelling and punctuation.

You must also respond to at least 3 classmate’s posts. When responding to a classmate, you may add additional information to their post, compare what they have written to the adaptations of a different organisms, or ask a question about what they posted.

What are the adaptations of the Florida panther?

  1. The Florida panther is an endangered spiecies that has adaptations that help it survive in the Florida Everglades. The Florida panther has retractable claws for when they hunt. The panther also has behavioral adaptations. For example they will swim to cool themselves off. Also, they may mate with Texas cougars to have a better chance of surviving.

    1. Andre, did you know that the Florida Panthers are mostly active between dusk and dawn, and rest during the heat of the day because it just to hot? (This is behavioral)

    2. Cool Hannah I never new they were nocturnal.I also found out that the Florida Panther has camouflage. At night they blend in to the night.

They also have behavioral adaptations.For example they might swim to cool themselves. some might move to Texas and mate with a Texas cougar for a better chance of survival.

  3. Hey did you guys know... A panther’s eyes are well adapted for seeing at night and detecting motion. A panther can detect the slightest movement and small glimmers of light. This is a pyhisical adaptation.
