Hi students! The goal for this blog is for you to become familiar with plant and animal adaptations. An adaptation is a trait that helps an organism survive. Below you will find various plants and animals. Choose a plant or animal to research. Write a reply that includes adaptations for this plant or animal. For each adaptation identify it as a behavioral or physical adaptation. Be sure to include what the adaptation is and how it helps the plant or animal to survive and thrive.

Your post must be a minimum of 1 paragraph (5-8 sentences) detailing the adaptations of the organism you choose.

Your post must be written in complete sentences with correct grammar, spelling and punctuation.

You must also respond to at least 3 classmate’s posts. When responding to a classmate, you may add additional information to their post, compare what they have written to the adaptations of a different organisms, or ask a question about what they posted.

What are the adaptations of flounder fish?

18 comments:

  1. The Flounder is very iteresting. As young it's eyes are at the side of its head. When its adult its eyes move to its head. The flounder then turns to the side and lives like that. The bottom of the fish turns white and the top can change to the backround like a chemelon. All of these adaptations are phyical.

  3. The Flounder fish adapts In a physical way because of the color of its body. Its body is a sandy orange, tan, and brown color which helps it blend in on the ocean floor. It gets its Food also because of its camoflauge. It waits for a suitable food source to come by then it 'ambushes' its prey and eats it. Also their body is Basically Flat which helps it also blend in. As the flouder Goes through its life cycle Each cycle eats something different.

    1. Natalie,
How fascinating that the flounder fish blend in with the ocean floor in order to catch its prey! I am curious to know more about how the flounder fish has a different diet during different stages of its life cycle. Does the flounder take on different physical forms as well?

  4. The flounder fish has a Physical adaptation. It is a tan, brown, and orange color that when other fish see may look like the sand on the ocean floor where they dwell. This helps them Camoflauge with the ocean floor. This adaptation helps them catch food too. Fish who live near the bottom of the ocean swim by the sand but the Flounder fish ( which is camoflauged) is hiding in the sand. The flounder fish will 'ambush' the suitable organsim and eat it.
