The alligator can adapt to it's environment many different ways, here are a few. Gators have a very powerful tail to propel it's way through water, and they have tough, armored skin. They also have webbed and clawed feet. Gators can camouflage very well in water, what you think is a log can be monster. Those were physical adaptations, the way an animal looks. Alligators can lunge at you with very strong jaws, which they can clamp on their prey. They also do the "death roll". Gators do this to help break apart their food, they roll around, and around until the prey stops strggling. They can also drown their prey. Those were behavioral adaptations, the way an animal acts.
ReplyDeleteValeria,Did you know that the alligator can run fast without moving its tail?!
DeleteDid you know...that the gator's tail can be as dangerous as it's mouth!

ReplyDeleteDid you know that the alligators are native to Florida?
ReplyDeleteDo you know how fast an alligator can run? It seems like they are always so lazy lying around in the swampy areas around central Florida. I have barely seen an alligator move.

Did you know since alligators are cold blooded they they are more active in the summer?
ReplyDeleteDid you know that an alligator can run 20 mph or faster if they are chasing you?
ReplyDeleteWell, an alligator has a round snout and a crocodile has a "sharper" snout.
ReplyDeleteI have searched two sites. One said an alligator can run at 35mph on land while the other site said 8-9mph on land.I think we should beleive the site that said 8-9mph because it said that alligators can NOT run at 35mph, anyways the comment that said 35mph was posted four years ago. (mph means miles per hour)
