What are the adaptations of a platypus?
Hi students! The goal for this blog is for you to become familiar with plant and animal adaptations. An adaptation is a trait that helps an organism survive. Below you will find various plants and animals. Choose a plant or animal to research. Write a reply that includes adaptations for this plant or animal. For each adaptation identify it as a behavioral or physical adaptation. Be sure to include what the adaptation is and how it helps the plant or animal to survive and thrive.
Your post must be a minimum of 1 paragraph (5-8 sentences) detailing the adaptations of the organism you choose.
Your post must be written in complete sentences with correct grammar, spelling and punctuation.
You must also respond to at least 3 classmate’s posts. When responding to a classmate, you may add additional information to their post, compare what they have written to the adaptations of a different organisms, or ask a question about what they posted.

The platypus have webbeed feet to dig burrows. It can stay underwater for up to five minutes. It lays eggs has a bill but is a mammal. they are semi-aquatic. Their beaver-shaped tail acts as a propeller when it is swimming.

Did you know that the alligator also uses it's tail to move through the water. The gator has webbed feet and it lays eggs, the alligator and the platypus are very similar. Maybe if they swiched environments both would survive.

ReplyDeleteThe platypus has two different eye lids so that when it is swimming the water dosnt get into their eyes and irratate them.
DeleteThe reason for having two different eye lids on each eye is so that when it is swimming it does not get the water in its eyes. If and when water gets into their eyes it will irratate them.

ReplyDeleteHere's another adaptation of male platypus: the male platypus has spurs connected to poison glands on it's thighs.

ReplyDeleteDid you know the Platypus walks on land with its knuckles with webbing tucked back. Platypus fur is fine and dense and is in two layers to keep them dry and warm. The Platypus is a carnivore which means it eats meat.

ReplyDeleteThe platypus uses it's bill to find food. When it is underwater it closes it's eyes and uses it's bill to sense the movement underwater
