Hi students! The goal for this blog is for you to become familiar with plant and animal adaptations. An adaptation is a trait that helps an organism survive. Below you will find various plants and animals. Choose a plant or animal to research. Write a reply that includes adaptations for this plant or animal. For each adaptation identify it as a behavioral or physical adaptation. Be sure to include what the adaptation is and how it helps the plant or animal to survive and thrive.
Your post must be a minimum of 1 paragraph (5-8 sentences) detailing the adaptations of the organism you choose.
Your post must be written in complete sentences with correct grammar, spelling and punctuation.
You must also respond to at least 3 classmate’s posts. When responding to a classmate, you may add additional information to their post, compare what they have written to the adaptations of a different organisms, or ask a question about what they posted.
Koala Bear Adaptations Native to certain parts of Australia, koalas are marsupials, which lead their life on trees. Adaptations of Koala Bears * As koalas lead an arboreal life, these animals have padded feet and long claws for better grip, while moving on tree trunks * Unlike most of the other mammals, koalas have strong thigh muscles * The thick fur is one of the koala bear adaptations that make their arboreal life comfortable * The curved spine of these animals enables them to rest on tree forks comfortably * The thick fur of koalas saves them from extreme temperature variations *Koalas have a keen sense of smell and use their nose to determine the edible type of eucalyptus leaves * As koalas have a diet that provide them with low energy, these animals are adapted to spend less energy These are all adaptations of the Koala Bear
I forgot to say weather or not to say if these are behavioral or physical adaptations! All the adaptation that are listed above are physical adaptations.
Some extra facts that I found about the koala bears are that the weight for a a large southern male is usually about 14 kg and about 5 kg for a small northern female. A behavioral adaptation of the koala bear is that it has a diet that gives it a low amount of energy. Since their diet gives them only a certain amount of energy they have adapted to using little energy. This means that koalas are some of the laziest animals.
