Some of the adaptations of the palm tree:
ReplyDeleteThe spines on it's leaf and stem is a defense from it's predators. It's waxy surface of it's leafs prevents the large lose of water from the leaf due to transparation. It has giant size leafs for maximus sunlight exposure. The slits in rim of leaf helps drain water. The strong leafs holds up during heavy rainfalls and winds.(Physical adaptation)
You would find palm trees in the tropical countries where the climate is warm and humid. To adapt, palm trees have giant size leaves for maximum sunlight exposure. The strong leaves hold up during heavy rainfalls and winds. The spines on the leaves and stems are a defense from predators. The leaves have a waxy surface that help conserve water.
ReplyDeleteWhat predators would eat a palm tree
ReplyDeleteShawn,
DeleteI don't think that any predators eat the palm tree. If there is any it would be the human- some drink the milk from the coconuts. If there was an animal it would have to have a sharp beak that can stand the effect of the sharp bark.
ants eat palm trees
DeleteI looked it up Shawn. Ants and other insects eat the palms.
DeleteHumans and some rodents are the main predators of the palm tree seeds.
DeleteAnother adaptation of the palm tree is some have sharp and poisonous spines on their leaves and trunks. This physical adaptation keeps away animals by pricking them and causing pain.
ReplyDeleteHey how do seeds form from a palm tree?
ReplyDeleteI agree with Shea M. and Anna. I think if there was a predator that eats the palm tree it would be us humans. We do drink the milk of the coconuts and somethimes use the outside shell of the coconut for other things.
