The stinkhorn is a type of mushroom fungi. It got its name because it smells terrible. One adaptation is the bad smell it gives off and the bad taste it has. These keep away some predators, like mosquitoes. When they try to eat the stinkhorn, they die. They are not poisonous to humans, but the bad smell and taste keep humans away from stinkhorns. These are physical adaptations. Another adaptation is in the slimy and sticky gleba part outside of the cap. It is there to help spread the spores. When insects, like flies, stop to eat, the spores stick to the insects’ bodies and then are dropped off somewhere else by the insect. New stinkhorns then grow in that spot. These are physical adaptations.
