Hi students! The goal for this blog is for you to become familiar with plant and animal adaptations. An adaptation is a trait that helps an organism survive. Below you will find various plants and animals. Choose a plant or animal to research. Write a reply that includes adaptations for this plant or animal. For each adaptation identify it as a behavioral or physical adaptation. Be sure to include what the adaptation is and how it helps the plant or animal to survive and thrive.

Your post must be a minimum of 1 paragraph (5-8 sentences) detailing the adaptations of the organism you choose.

Your post must be written in complete sentences with correct grammar, spelling and punctuation.

You must also respond to at least 3 classmate’s posts. When responding to a classmate, you may add additional information to their post, compare what they have written to the adaptations of a different organisms, or ask a question about what they posted.

What are the adaptations of an alligator?

11 comments:

  1. The alligator can adapt to it's environment many different ways, here are a few. Gators have a very powerful tail to propel it's way through water, and they have tough, armored skin. They also have webbed and clawed feet. Gators can camouflage very well in water, what you think is a log can be monster. Those were physical adaptations, the way an animal looks. Alligators can lunge at you with very strong jaws, which they can clamp on their prey. They also do the "death roll". Gators do this to help break apart their food, they roll around, and around until the prey stops strggling. They can also drown their prey. Those were behavioral adaptations, the way an animal acts.

  6. Do you know how fast an alligator can run? It seems like they are always so lazy lying around in the swampy areas around central Florida. I have barely seen an alligator move.

  10. I have searched two sites. One said an alligator can run at 35mph on land while the other site said 8-9mph on land.I think we should beleive the site that said 8-9mph because it said that alligators can NOT run at 35mph, anyways the comment that said 35mph was posted four years ago. (mph means miles per hour)
